The project involved development of the social and economic infrastructure, rest stops, and related social services. The project was core for enhancing the production of tradable goods, creating employment opportunities, and facilitating economic integration in the project area as well as in the region. Developing pilot pastoralist roadside markets helped integrate the pastoralist communities along the parts of the corridor habited by Turkana and Pokot through provision of sites for services, clean water, electrification, market shades, veterinary posts, livestock holding area, and community information centers with fiber optic connection.
